Hello Everyone!
I know this seems long, but I promise it's a quick read and very much worth it! :)
I would like to introduce myself. My Story may be somewhat similar to some of you guys and gals out there.
I got out of high school and completed cosmetology school. (I keep my license active!)
I wanted to be a professional stylist and make-up artist and move from Tennessee to New York, but, I got married and stayed close to home instead.
I styled hair for years but eventually grew tired of the long hours and being on my constantly. At about this time, my husband began a real estate advising company and needed help. I jumped at the chance to be his "Gal Friday!" ! I fell in love with working from home and became a pro at office administration and management.
As my husband's business changed, he didn't need me to work as many hours, but we still needed more income. I hated the thought of going back to work outside the home because I didn't want to put our newly born son into daycare. My husband said if I could find a work at home job paying around $1000 per month, we could make it.
I began to work like a mad woman, scouring the Internet for anything I could do. It was early 1998, and work from jobs were almost unheard of. There were, of course, envelope stuffing jobs and other scams out there. I was new to looking for legitimate at home jobs and completely lost. I didn't know any reliable websites, so, I tried many different things and got severely burned.
Eventually, I stumbled across appointment setting for insurance agents.I applied and after a phone call and a meeting in an office in my town, I got the job. It was pure luck that I found a local job that could be done from home. There was only one problem... I absolutely hated it. "Cold" calling is not for me but I did it while spending ANY extra time I had looking for ANYTHING else!
In late 1998, I answered an ad for a company that needed at-home workers to call businesses and ask questions about their earnings releases. The company was in Boston and completely legitimate. I created a new resume and sent it off with my fingers crossed. Two weeks later, I got an e-mail asking if I could call their office as soon as I could. After a conversation with the founder. I was hired. He chose my resume out of 200!
With the company, I spoke with CFO's of major corporations and inquired about their dividends and earnings release information for an online investment calendar. The information is public record and they're required to give out the information if asked. It was so much better than appointment setting. I never encountered anyone that was rude or hung up on me.
I worked this job for over thirteen years! The only problem was that I was allowed only 20 hours a week. By this time, I needed more money because I had another baby boy.
I once again began looking for other jobs online. I concentrated on data entry/transcription slots and found a couple that I could do while staying with my primary job in the finance world. I loved it! At one time, I had five different part time jobs.
By 2011, my finance job came to an end because the company went digital and computers took over my position. Ironically, at the same time my transcription work began drying up and I turned to the Internet once again for help.
By now, many companies were hiring people to work at home, and, my prayers were answered quickly when I saw a customer care professional ad for American Express. I went through a very lengthy vetting process, background check, and even a drug test. Thankfully, I was hired for full-time work. I had health insurance, retirement, five weeks off per year...you name it, I had it.
They're an amazing company to work with for some people. I worked for them for three years. The problem with the job, for me, was that it was extremely stressful.
The company expects complete perfection in every possible way and they aren't easy to work with at all when it comes to things like scheduling, sick days, and even emergencies. Also, "your" position with the company depends on what people say about you in after-call surveys. The customer my love you, but hate the policies of American Express and rate the call as a 1 or 2. This is harmful to the agent who handled the call because the company expects perfect 10's all the time. This is impossible, and there's a very LARGE turnover.
Yes, I made an incredible salary and maybe if I was a care free twenty year old without a family it would have been easier. Unfortunately, the job was not for me.
By the third year, the stress of my position was too much and my health deteriorated rapidly and I became very ill. I had to leave the company and regain my physical and emotional health.
(American Express is a legitimate place to work from home and for some people, it can become a marvelous career.)
I finally decided to take my writing hobby and make it into my "hopefully" final career. Over the years, I've written six books, under a pen name and now I work as a freelance writer.
I create resumes/cover letters, web content, blog posts, forum posts, product reviews, articles for various agencies… if it's writing, I’ll do it!
In the past, I've maintained several blogs dedicated to finding work from home jobs. I’ve always wanted to help people so they didn’t have to go through the anguish I did for so many years. It's terrifying to know you MUST find a job to support a family and for whatever reason, you have to work from home, yet, you don't know how to find one, or, who to trust!
Now, I want to make helping others my main priority. I've created this FRESH website with fantastic and relevant content. And, I've created a FRESH blog that many will enjoy and maybe even learn something. I want to offer people inspiration, tips, and ways to improve their life.
YOU WILL FIND ALL THAT HERE!
I'm a blessed Christian and I understand there's a lot of people on the Internet trying to steal money from people. There are so many scams, illegitimate jobs and so-called business opportunities. I feel it's my duty to shield people from that and I'll do it on this website. I've got decades of experience at this and I know my stuff. I'm honest and I truly CARE!
I will personally answers all e-mails, freely give advice, job coach and consult individuals and businesses for NO charge.
Please, put this website in your Favorites List or Bookmark it!
